My Go-to Downtown Makeup look

Got a little camera (and duckface) happy

One of my favourite parts about going downtown (besides the booze, dancing and post-downtown pizza, of course) is getting ready for the night. I'll put on music, pour myself a glass of wine and get all dolled up. It's a relaxing, small version of me-time that combines my favourite things: music, makeup and wine.

I've tried many makeup looks over the years, but this is hands-down my go-to look. It's simple, chic and will definitely have you turning heads. Here's how to re-create it!

First off, here's what I use:

Urban Decay Naked Pallette - $64
Bobby Brown, long-wear gel eyeliner - $28

Annabella lip liner - $6.95

Dream Fresh BB Cream by Maybelline - $9

Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Blush & Highlighter $11.95

Steps to re-create the look:

For the face: I'm currently waiting on my foundation brush from Sephora, so for now I've been using my fingers to apply the BB creme. I place product onto my cheeks, chin, nose and forehead and blend until it's smooth and there are no streaks. Next, I smile and place blush onto my cheeks and use the highlighting part of the shimmer strips to highlight right above my cheekbones, on the bridge of my nose and on the cupids bow of my lips to accentuate them even more.

For the eyes: I love smoky eye looks, so this one is perfect for going from day-to-night. I begin by using the colours 'virgin' and 'sin' in my inner crease and all over the lid. I also put the virgin eyeshadow right into the crease of my eye to make them pop. Next, using the colour 'sidecar,' I brush that on the outer part of my eye and into the crease. I add a smoky effect by using the colour 'darkhorse' as my outer crease colour. Using a blending brush, you can combine all of the colours and erase any harsh lines.

For the lips: I love making my lips appear bigger, so I always use my Annabella lip liner by lining the outer edges and in the middle of my lips for further fullness. Since I'm doing a dramatic eye, I usually just use a simple, nude lipgloss or lipstick.

This is the finished product - I hope you like it! Let me know if you want to see a video tutorial!
